Persuaded or not persuaded that’s the Question!

Have been thinking about what I was going to write about today as I am not really in the mood to write, but as I am trying to stay focus on this writing journey I am here. One reason my feels are trying to take over has to do with a major decision my husband and I have to make regarding our home as we have been told by our landlord she is thinking of selling. How does one deal with that, he is in school, none of us are employed, and all  our part-time income stream seem to be drying up? Is that a sign from God to ‘pull up pins’ and move? We are not sure have been praying though we really need a revelation on this.

Any way As I read the word for answers I have wondered if Jesus is asleep on a pillow as I’ve not really heard from him yet. My husband on the other hand is at peace and rest being still in the storm while I have been pouring over the word to see what he is saying to my heart. However I am fully persuaded that God who has began a good work in me will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ (Phil.1:6) that being said it’s important to be fully persuaded for it makes all the difference as we cannot be almost married or almost pass an exam you are in or out, in the same manner we cannot be almost persuaded in our relationship with Jesus we have to be fully persuaded that he will do what he promised and I know for sure God watches over his word to bring it to pass I am reminded of this by the life of Abraham he too was fully persuade that God would keep his promise Romans 4:20-21 (NIV) says “ Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.”
Isn’t that something? That’s the type of relationship I want to have and Abraham didn’t have a Bible and now get this, we have a better covenant praise His name! How about you God wants to have a relationship with you too His arms are open wide he invites you to come near to him and He has provided the Holy Spirit to come along side you to help you be more like him each day. Why not make that commitment today talk to him in prayer ask him help you, read his word and watch how he answers your requests, little by little you will make progress and your faith in Him will  soar.

Jesus says He will love you and manifest Himself to you. That’s what we need in this life for the life of the fully persuaded is a blessed life.  Bless you.

What’s Growing in Your Garden Heart?

Recently I came across a children’s story that I first read as a child and decided to reread it. I found it online it’s called The Secret Garden it was originally written by Francis Hodgson Burnett. It is about a young girl Mary born in India orphaned early and sent to England to live with her rich uncle who she never sees. On exploring his estate she discovered a locked garden, this rouses her curiosity and she was told that the garden had been locked up for over ten years by her uncle as it reminded him of his dead wife. She found the key to the garden and realized that the garden may still be alive. With a boy named Dickon who assured her the garden wasn’t dead they started to dig around the neglected roses and before long the children saw evidence of life.

Now as I thought about that story today, my take on it is that all of us have a secret garden, yes we do it’s found in our hearts. Think about this for a moment – how we tend it will establish what comes out of our mouth what we say and how we live.  For bad and negative words if allowed to take root in our hearts will cause us to behave in a negative manner producing fruits of the flesh. On the other hand if we plant the words from the Bible in the soil of the heart it too will produce, but these will be uplifting words and a positive attitude will be the result producing fruits of the spirit. As a believer in the Lord Jesus, what types of seeds are you planting? Or are you neglecting you garden heart?

Take sometime today and plant some good seeds.

Knitting? Yes please!

So it’s a new week and I am happy to say I have knitted three hats, yes I did it, and am excited to report that I am hooked.  As I mentioned in a post here last week, my daughter has learned how to knit using a loom and she aware of my interest bought me a set of looms.  So with two balls of yarn and my round loom, off I went.  After doing what is called ‘ewrapping” that is it’s like the letter ‘e’ as one moves around the pegs I got the hang of it. As soon as a pattern started to form I was fascinated for finally I was able to do something several of my cousins and friends have been able to do as children. As I knitted I was able to memorize a scripture verse just to keep my mind occupied but before I know it my creative ideas stated flowing and it got me thinking what projects can I make with these tools?  So much of my waking hours this past week have been spent looking at patterns and projects for I had no idea about patterns I just thought I would wing it but the serious people who know these things told me yes patterns are important.

My first hat navy blue without a brim not bad for start but not to my liking. The next two, for each daughter was better both had brims and I experimented with different yarn with each I think I am getting better. So far they look ‘okay’ to me as they have turned out quite well. I only had one mishap with the yarn slipping off a couple of pegs but I am more alert now.  I have been compiling a list of all the people I know who would not mind receiving one of my unique creations.

Well after one week it seems I have found a relaxing hobby that will be something useful, handmade and have a professional look to it so many positives.  Right now I plan to introduce this to several little girls I know for it is not complicated and can be enjoyed by young and old alike it’s also a great way to build rapport.  Who knows perhaps one day down the road of life you might just be wearing one of my homespun creations.  Have a great day!

Contrary winds are a blowin'

Have you ever experienced storms in your life?  Times when things just didn’t make sense and fear wanted to overtake you and pull you under? I think everyone have had feelings like that before!

Jesus’ disciples were no different. In your Bible take a look at Matthew 14:24-32, and see how the disciples behaved during the storm. The Bible tells us that Jesus directed His disciples to get into a boat, and to go before Him to the other side, as He sent away the crowds. While He was away a storm came up it happened between 3:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. that is the darkest time of the night called the 4th watch it was at that time Jesus chose to go to them walking on the water. This says to me that when we are going through tough times Jesus is very close by in fact He is walking on our problems and since He is the great I Am He walks high above every issue in our life.  Meanwhile the disciples saw Him walking on the water and were afraid for they thought He was a ghost. A spirit of fear came on them but instantly He spoke to them, saying, ‘take courage! I Am! Stop being afraid!’ He offers us a blank check, He is whatever we need.

Now look at Peter he called out to Jesus ‘Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.’ And he simply says to him “come” so Peter climbed out of the boat and walked on the water.  Wow, do you know what that says to me, we too can look at Jesus and climb above the storm or issues that we face. However Peter as he walked on the water lose focus he looked at the water, he saw the wind boisterous and reason set in, his mind like ours say ‘what am I really doing,?’ but what has that to do with walking on the water, he was above the water, yet fear came in and caused his faith to fail for us it could be sickness, a broken family or financial turbulence it’s so easy to lose focus when times are hard the enemy steps in to distract us but like Peter we can cry out Lord save me! Watch this, when he got back into the boat the wind stopped the test was over, it was all a test.

Perhaps your life is experiencing some turbulence be sure it’s not to destroy you it’s to mold you and make you and me more like the Master, keep looking in faith to Jesus for the storms won’t last and you’ll be transformed like Him from glory to glory.

Tapestry of my Life

I am finally home and so appreciating my own space. While away my youngest has learned something about weaving and it occurred to me that I didn’t know a thing about weaving. So now that I am home I have decided to do a bit of investigating about weaving and trying my hand at making something too.

Of utmost importance though is finding out what exactly is God’s will for me this year. It cannot be discovered over night though, it’s a procedure. This means I will have to spend more time in the Word of God to search and seek it out for only the renewed mind can discover the perfect will of God. If we are not doing so, we will only be in His permissive will and I have had enough of that I feel like time is running out; how much time does one really have? Even if it’s  one hundred years what is that in light of eternity? There is only one way to successfully navigate the life God has plan for me it comes back to the Word and knowing what He says through His Spirit to my heart.

I am not talking about the organ on my left side that we can feel beating; I am talking about my spiritual heart for that’s where our spirit communicates with the Lord for the Word tells us God is a Spirit. (John 4:24) and since I am born again my spirit has been made alive, even though I really need some training, all believers have to go through that process it’s not an overnight thing. It is similar to going to school and training the mind, in like manner we have to train and equip the spirit man in order to be effective and so fulfill our purpose.

The word of God says in Ps.119 we should hide the word in our hearts and meditate on it and consider His ways and delight in His decrees. Fascinating isn’t it?  Just think about the meaning of all those words.  Now for the big one, putting it into practice yes doing all that it says, the Bible clearly says in Joshua 1:8 ‘Then you will be prosperous and successful.’ That’s no ordinary success either its good success. With our heart full of the Word and the Holy Spirit to give direction one is bound to succeed and make an impact in the world, that’s how I see it.  Now that I’ve written all of this with God’s help I have to do it along with training my hands to weave.

Blessings!

New Year on my Mind
Happy New Year y’all  peace be to you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ,  the verse that comes to mind as we celebrate  is “Forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus”. Phil. 3: 13-14 it’s a great verse to think about at the start of a new year I think, for no one knows the future except God.
Most New Year’s Day find me at home sleeping late or making plans for the month. I some time look over my old diary or notes collected to reflect but this year I’m in New Orleans for a few more days so am not able to do that.  However I hope in the next few days I’ll be able to set aside some time to meet with God in order to hear His voice as to the direction I need to take for this year. For some people last year was bitter sweet, some lost loved ones others lost possessions due to natural disasters and other type of disasters whatever it was that caused your foundation to shake be sure of this, if you stay anchored to God He will hold you up during the challenges that lies ahead. You have been given a blank slate to write on, I hope you will make the time to think about God’s foresight and put your trust in His wisdom to lead you like He did   the Israelites of old and even now in our personal day to day experiences.
It is therefore with confident assurance that I wish you all the very best for the year that lies ahead.
